Wine Touring in Naramata

Updated: Jul 15, 2018

The Okanagan Valley is known for its incredible wine country- and one of the most concentrated and celebrated areas is the Naramata bench, located on Okanagan Lake near the larger town of Penticton. We took the August long weekend to enjoy the wine, bike ride, and paddleboard in this beautiful location.

Trip Itinerary

Staying at Sormovila Guest suite made this trip incredibly easy- they were close to everything and had excellent suggestions on where to spend our time. We would highly recommend them for your visit here. We were able to walk, bike, and drive around the area without issue.

Approximate Trip Costs

4 nights accommodations, bike and paddleboard rentals, shuttle to Chute Lake: approx $1100 for the long weekend

Destination Map

The Village of Naramata is about a 5 hour drive from Vancouver. You can also fly in Kelowna or Penticton airports and the drive would be much shorter.

There are so many wineries to visit in Naramata, it's almost impossible to see them all. We had a couple of must-see's on our list, including Popular Grove, Moraine, Terravista, Tightrope, and Bench1775. Overall, Tightrope was my favorite!

When you visit one of the participating Naramata Bench Wineries Association locations, be sure to pick up a wine passport. You can collect a stamp at each of the wineries as you go, and after visiting 6, you are eligible to win tickets to a wine event of your choice in the following year.

Also, don't forget to go to Legend Distilling. A great back patio coupled with some delicious spirits makes for an excellent afternoon chill spot.

Helpful Links

Paddleboarding and Bike Rentals, plus a team of friendly and welcoming staff that can help you with literally anything you need! We took them up on plenty of recommendations and they even accommodated our desire to have an early start on Sunday.

Kurt will take you anywhere you need to go in the Naramata area, and we asked him to take us up to Chute Lake so we could ride the KVR trail mostly downhill. Friendly, flexible, and an excellent historian, Kurt filled us in on the history of the area.

Pauline and Mark sure know how to provide an incredible guest experience, and imparted plenty of insider info for the different wineries in the area. Their guest suite is first class: private, tidy, relaxing, and romantic all in one. Plus, the location is excellent for visiting wineries in the area.

Handcrafted spirits and delicious cocktails. One not to miss- take a break from wine tasting and relax on the back patio.

A great resource for information on the various wineries in the area. They also put on multiple events throughout the season.

Delicious pizza made fresh and with local ingredients. They also deliver, so if you would prefer to enjoy a bottle of wine at home (or on the deck, as we did after driving all day) they can bring dinner to you!

Happy Adventures,

Stephanie
